South Burnett in Queensland is a boutique wine region that produces award-winning vintages, putting Queensland on the map as a serious wine producer. The region’s ideal terroir, similar to that of the Hunter Valley and Mediterranean regions, creates a distinctive flavour in the wines. There are more than a dozen vineyards in the region and other producers of niche market garden produce. The area is picturesque and popular for weekend visits, with opportunities to sample local produce at cellar doors and farm gates.

Verdelho 2018
TASTING NOTES: Pale straw in colour, this wine is upfront and round. Crisp natural acidity holds the wine together, finishing firm and dry. This wine is perfectly suitable to be enjoyed now but will age gracefully developing an oil texture in the bottle.
SUGGESTED FOODS: Ocean fresh prawns, crab, scallops and fresh shucked oysters. Also matches beautifully with spiciness in Asian-style salads.
12.5% Alc/Vol
Petit Verdot 2016
Petit Verdot ripens late in the season, and while it struggles to reach maturity in the cool conditions of its origin in Bordeaux, it thrives in the warmer climate of the South Burnett. Our Petit Verdot vines are capable of producing dense, full bodied wines that are as satisfying as they are elegant, and that will compete with the best in the world.
TASTING NOTES: Intense dark plum in colour with aromas of violets and dark berries intertwined with a chalky/earthy complexity. The wine is bold yet floral notes carry the palate. Very well balanced, firm yet silky tannins prevail on the palate with a touch of spice and minerality on the finish.
SUGGESTED FOODS: Pairs with venison and slow-braised beef dishes.
AWARDS: 2018 Queensland Wine Awards: Bronze Medal
12.7% Alc/Vol
Nebbiolo 2016
Nebbiolo is an iconic Italian varietal famed for its delicate alluring aromas yet firm tannic palate. Its light mahogany colour plays off in dramatic comparison to its powerful yet elegant structure.
TASTING NOTES: Fragrant aromas of rose petals, red cherry and raspberries with earthy notes of red clay. Crisp natural acidity and distinct varietal tannins form an elegant palate rounded out with delicate stone fruit characters. Careful cellaring will allow this wine to evolve and soften over time.
SUGGESTED FOODS: Pairs well with full-flavoured lasagnas, braised lamb shanks, rich stews and anything that involves truffles.
